Rodless cylinders differ from basic cylinders in that no piston extends outside the cylinder body.
Instead, the internal piston in connected to an external carriage, usually by means of a magnetic
or mechanical coupling system. This allows the carriage to travel the length of the cylinder and
represent a major space savings over conventional cylinders. Rodless cylinders are ideal for long stroke applications
because they are unaffected by rod overhang, bending, piston binding, and uneven seal wear. They do not
require external piston guides or supports and are capable of hamndling large loads with high
precision positioning.
